Jet A-1 Proficiency Testing Scheme for Aviation Fuel Laboratories
Stanhope-Seta is pleased to announce the launch of a new Jet A-1 Proficiency Testing (PT) Scheme, designed specifically for laboratories carrying out aviation turbine fuel testing. Proficiency testing is a key requirement for laboratories working to ISO 17025 accreditation and for organisations involved in Jet A-1 fuel quality control. This new scheme provides an independent, internationally benchmarked way to assess laboratory performance.
Strengthen quality assurance with minimal budget impact
Participation in the Stanhope-Seta Jet A-1 Proficiency Testing Scheme offers a low cost entry point and runs bi-annually, enabling ongoing monitoring of Jet A-1 test method performance throughout the year.
Designed for Jet A-1 and aviation fuel testing laboratories
The scheme supports laboratories testing Jet A-1 aviation turbine fuel in accordance with:
- Defence Standard 91-091
- ASTM D1655
Jet A-1 samples are sourced from UK airport and terminal supply networks, ensuring realistic and representative aviation fuel samples that reflect routine testing conditions.
This makes the scheme suitable for laboratories involved in:
- Aviation fuel quality control
- Fuel supply chain compliance
- ISO 17025 laboratory accreditation
- Internal quality assurance and method validation

Statistical reporting
Each participating laboratory receives a comprehensive proficiency testing report including:
- Z-scores for performance evaluation
- Test Performance Index (TPI)
- Probability (P-P) plots for data visualisation and trend analysis
These reports provide clear, auditable evidence to support laboratory accreditation and technical reviews.
ISO 17025 and ISO 17034 accredited sample preparation
All Jet A-1 sample preparation and distribution is carried out at Stanhope-Seta’s Richardson Laboratory, accredited to ISO 17025 and ISO 17034.
Samples are supplied in UN-approved, tamper-evident containers, with additional containers available for laboratories reporting multiple Jet A-1 test properties.
Supporting aviation fuel laboratory accreditation and continuous improvement
Participation in a recognised Jet A-1 proficiency testing scheme allows laboratories to:
- Demonstrate competence during ISO 17025 audits
- Meet external proficiency testing requirements
- Monitor long-term method and analyst performance
- Identify bias, variability or training needs
- Benchmark results against international peers
