H2S Vapour Phase Processor Approved
22/4/2012
For IP 570/12a Procedure A
New updates for H2S Analyser, IP 570, Residual and Distillate Fuels
In response to the known effect of Thiols (Mercaptans) or alkyl Sulphides, see IP 570/12 Note 5, the Vapour Phase Processor (VPP) was developed. The new accessory for the H2S Analyser separates interfering chemical species by passing evolved gases through a cold filter. This proven process ensures Hydrogen Sulfide is the sole chemical species to pass over the electrochemical sensor.
EI Methodology Update: IP 570/12a
- Procedure A requires the use of the VPP with the H2S Analyser.
- Procedure B retains the original test procedure, without VPP.
A precision study for Procedure A was successfully completed by the EI in February and the research report showed Procedure A achieved precision similar to Procedure B. Based on this work the new test method IP 570/12a will shortly be available for purchase on the Energy Institute website. Procedure A is also now the industry recommended test for both Distillate and Residual Fuel Samples.
Compliance for IP 570/12a Procedure A
All existing SA4000-0 Seta H2S Analysers can be upgraded for Procedure A compliance by either a return to factory service, or locally by a Seta authorised service partners.
Factory new H2S Analysers, when combined with the VPP, are now supplied compliant for Procedure A.
